The weather is crisper, people are getting their winter tires on, and plows are going on the front of trucks – must be winter in Halton!
There’s always something going on in Milton and the surrounding areas, but with some COVID measures still in place, we thought it would be helpful to list out some of the outdoor and family friendly activities going on in our local communities. There’s just so many, so if you don’t see something in our blog, please email us!
Frozen – Hilton Falls: Ok, it’s not actually called Frozen, but might as well be. Hilton Falls is very pretty in the warmer months, but in the winter, it freezes over and looks like something out of a fantasy movie. It’s a very easy hike from the parking lot to the falls and well maintained by Conservation Halton. If you’re going to check it out, it’s really nice to go early morning or late afternoon because the place feels so still. Remember, even though it’s a trail, reservations are still required (although, that helps with traffic management in the parking lot!): https://conservationhalton.ca/park-details?park=hilton-falls
Ski Close to Home – Glen Eden: Glen Eden is the perfect size for those who are learning to ski, and those who love to ski or snowboard. It’s close by, offers season lift passes and lessons, and ample parking. It does get busy in the middle of the day, so show up early, hit the slopes and then have a hot chocolate to warm your fingers and toes. Season passes and lesson programs are on sale now, and hurry, they do book up: https://gleneden.on.ca/
Winterlit – An Illuminated Walk in the Woods – Conservation Halton: From December 26, 2021 to February 21, 2022 (weekends & holidays only), 5:30pm-10:00pm, Mountsberg’s Winterlit Trail is a 600 metre loop that has lighting and art installations along the trail. It basically looks like something out of a Hallmark movie. There is also the Sugar Buch Trail (slightly longer at 1km), which has soft, overhead lighting and is a peaceful walk. There are promises of soundtracks from local musicians, which makes for some nice ambience. Tickets at $15 per adult, $11 per child or senior and you must make a reservation. More information can be found here: https://conservationhalton.ca/winter-at-mountsberg
Campbellville Santa Claus Parade: Campbellville’s Santa Claus Parade is so sweet. The community comes together, there are floats, and a large combine tractor. It’s also very close to Christmas, so you’re well into the swing of the season. This year the parade will be a drive through at the Mohawk Racetrack on Sunday, December 18th, 2021. Campbellville is small, but mighty, and this event is less frantic than the larger, sister events. The parade is well done and there are events afterwards at the local restaurants and churches that are all within walking distance.

And don’t forget about us here at Storage Solutions, your local Milton self storage facility. We love candy canes (maybe too much) and Santa is visiting December 24 to pick up all the toys he has in storage.
